Pune, Maharashtra
Between Hinjewadi's IT parks and Pune's manufacturing belt, getting to a clinic mid-week often means half a day lost to travel. Get a doctor-verified medical certificate online in 15–30 minutes instead.
Pune's working population splits mainly between the Hinjewadi–Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park IT corridor on the western side of the city and Magarpatta/Kharadi on the east, alongside a long-established manufacturing and automotive sector that predates Pune's IT boom. The Hinjewadi stretch in particular is known for some of the worst single-corridor congestion of any tech hub in India, with the Wakad and Hinjewadi Phase 1 junctions regularly adding an hour or more to a routine commute. Pune is also home to a very large student population — it's sometimes called the 'Oxford of the East' for its concentration of colleges — so alongside working professionals, students needing a certificate for attendance or exams make up a meaningful share of requests from the city. Sitting on the Deccan plateau, Pune runs noticeably cooler and drier than Mumbai for most of the year, with a clear monsoon (June–September) still bringing a rise in viral illness. Employers here range from large IT services companies to Pune-headquartered product companies to manufacturing, auto, and defence-research establishments — including the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and several DRDO labs — a wider mix than a purely IT-dominated city, though a doctor-signed certificate is broadly accepted across all of them. A number of large companies run both a Mumbai and a Pune office along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway corridor, so employees sometimes need documentation recognised by an HR team based in either city.
Pune's manufacturing and auto employers — a bigger share of the workforce here than in most other IT hubs — often run shift patterns at plants in Akurdi and Pimpri, where a certificate stating a clear rest period helps supervisors plan shift coverage. Hinjewadi's IT campuses are generally more flexible, accepting a straightforward PDF or portal upload, and Pune's many colleges are used to processing a doctor's certificate for exam or attendance purposes alongside standard workplace requests.
More on sick leave certificates →Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017
Unlike several other states, the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017 does not prescribe a separate statutory sick-leave entitlement. Instead, workers are entitled to 8 days of casual leave with wages per calendar year (credited quarterly, lapsing if unused), plus earned/privilege leave of one day for every 20 days worked once 240 days of service in a year is completed, accumulable up to 45 days. In practice, this means medical absence in Maharashtra is typically covered through an employer's own sick-leave policy or through casual/earned leave rather than a dedicated statutory sick-leave bucket — which makes clear, doctor-issued documentation for any medical absence even more useful when an employer's internal policy (not the Act) is what determines acceptance.
Employees covered under the ESI Act can separately claim ESI sickness benefit regardless of the Shops Act's leave categories, administered by ESIC.

Yes — the certificate format isn't industry-specific. It carries the same doctor's name, NMC registration number, signature, and QR code that HR teams at both Hinjewadi's IT campuses and Pune's auto plants look for.
Yes. Viral fever and related seasonal illness during Pune's June–September monsoon are common reasons patients consult MCME's doctors, and a certificate is issued where medically appropriate.
Your doctor can note the specific rest period advised on the certificate, which your supervisor or HR team can use to adjust the shift roster — the same certificate works whether you're salaried office staff or on a plant shift schedule.
Yes. Students at Pune's colleges and universities can use the same doctor-verified certificate for attendance shortfalls or exam absence due to illness, in addition to workplace sick leave.
Yes. Pune is home to several DRDO and defence-research establishments alongside its IT and auto sectors, and the certificate format — doctor's name, NMC registration number, signature, and QR verification — is the same regardless of the type of employer.
Yes. Telemedicine consultations are recognised under India's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines, 2020, and a certificate issued by an NMC-registered doctor after an online consultation carries the same legal standing as one issued in person.
